Sue's Volunteer Work
Sometimes the most rewarding work can be the work you do for free. Sue has been very lucky to be a part of supporting her community at home and abroad with unique volunteering opportunities. Some of these include the following:
Crazy8s - VP of the Board
Crazy8s is an 8 day filmmaking challenge that provides funding and support to emerging filmmakers to help them produce a short film.
Crazy8s is run by the Crazy8s Film Society, a not-for-profit society. It was created to foster support for emerging filmmakers who have little or no access to funding for short films.
Women in Film
Member of the Women in Film and Television Vancouver Advocacy Committee.
Co-Founder and Facilitator for the annual Women's Graduates Gathering - an event to get the female identified graduates from all the local film schools together to celebrate and build ally-ship in professional community.
City of Vancouver - Arts & Culture Policy Committee
The mandate of the Arts and Culture Policy Council is to advise Council and staff on all civic programs that relate to arts and culture, and ensure that arts and culture is appropriately represented in City plans and policy initiatives.
Sue has gone on a few trips to support orphanages in both the Dominican Republic and Guatemala. Amazing people and places who allowed her to be among them for periods of time. She hopes to keep weaving this work into her life!
